‘Celebrating Quartets’ Concert at Camphill Ghent

 

The Concerts at Camphill Ghent chamber music series continues on March 17 at 3 p.m. in the Culture Hall at 2542 Route 66 in Chatham with violinist Joana Genova, bassoonist Gili Sharett, violist Ariel Rudiakov, cellist Nathaniel Parke and pianist and series Artistic Director Gili Melamed-Lev.

“Celebrating Quartets” will highlight the afternoon concert as the chamber music series continues its sixth season. The program will include an arrangement of the Oboe Quartet for Bassoon and Strings in B flat Major K. 370 by Mozart, Bon Voyage for Bassoon and Piano and Winter Song for Bassoon and Piano by D. Haller and Piano Quartet in G minor Op. 25 by Brahms.

Joana Genova

Bulgarian violinist Genova is co-founder and artistic director of Taconic Music in Manchester, Vermont, visiting assistant professor of violin and director of Chamber Music Initiatives at the University of Indianapolis and second violinist of the Indianapolis Quartet. Genova has lived in the United States since 2000 with an active career as a chamber musician, orchestral player, teacher and soloist. She was artist associate at Williams College, principal second violin of the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, concertmaster of the Manchester Festival Orchestra, member of the Brooklyn Philharmonic and has performed as a soloist with the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra, Harlem Chamber Players, Metropolitan, Rockaway, Danbury and Berkshire symphonies, Manchester Festival Orchestra and Yonkers Philharmonic.

Gili Sharett

Bassoonist Sharett has performed with the Israel Philharmonic, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York City Ballet, American Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony and the American Ballet Theatre. She is a member of Ariel Winds, an all female woodwind quintet, has been the second bassoonist of the Greenwich Symphony since 2005, teaches at Queens College, the Bloomingdale School of Music and the Music Conservatory of Westchester. Sharett currently performs in the orchestra of The Phantom of the Opera.

Ariel Rudiakov

Violist Rudiakov is co-Artistic Director of Vermont’s Taconic Music, Music Director and conductor of the Danbury, Connecticut Symphony Orchestra and adjunct chamber music coach and conductor at the University of Indianapolis. Since his first performance as a professional violist at age 18, Rudiakov has enjoyed a wide-ranging and diverse musical life, performing throughout the United States and abroad including the Shanghai and Jupiter Quartets, the Tokyo, Juilliard and Guarneri quartets, pianists Ruth Laredo, David Deveau, Andre Michel Schub and others. He is a former member of the New York Piano Quartet and Equinox String Quartet and was a founding member of the String Orchestra of New York City.

Nathaniel Parke

            Cellist Parke is the principal cello of the Berkshire Symphony and has been a member of the Boston Composers String Quartet with whom he can be heard performing new works by Boston composers on the MMC label. He is currently artist associate in cello at Williams College and instructor of cello at Bennington and Skidmore colleges in addition to maintaining a studio of private students. He has served as a faculty member and chamber music coach at the Longy School of Music, SUNY Albany, the Manchester Music Festival and is currently on the faculty of the Chamber Music Conference and Composers’ Forum of the East.
