Unique Programs

Cultural & Spiritual Life

Voluntary community gatherings will occur frequently to which all members will be welcome to attend. These could include morning gatherings which will present an opportunity to look ahead to the day, highlighting special events, birthday celebrations, visitors expected, and a song or thought for the day; weekly meetings to look ahead and reflect back; and a "Saturday Supper" which will include focused discussion on spiritual themes and texts. Camphill Communities carefully mark and celebrate the turning of the seasons in nature and the preparation for such festivals is often a joyful opportunity for volunteering.

A variety of opportunities will be available to support lifelong learning, including study groups on a wide range of topics led by residents, co-workers, or volunteers. Opportunities for physical activities could include gardening, nature walks on the Community grounds, and movement therapy.

Members can also participate in activities located off-site and assistance will be provided in arranging transportation to and from the activity or event.

Community members will have the opportunity to attend cultural events in the Community, such as live theater, concerts, and talks provided by guest artists or professionals. Members could participate in or attend Community-based choir practices or performances, annual and seasonal festivals, plays, concerts, and lectures. The day-to-day life will also provide a variety of opportunities for social interaction and engagement. For example, participation in daily tasks such as processing fresh garden produce will be welcome. Meals will provide a time for social connection, with lunch and dinner served family style in the Adult Home with residents of the Independent living joining in if they wish.

In everyday life the spiritual in life will be nurtured by creating opportunities for peaceful quiet reflection. Community members will also have the option to attend a non-denominational Sunday service which may be held at the Community or attend a service of their choice outside the Community.

Members can participate in activities located off-site and assistance will be provided in arranging transportation to and from the activity or event.
