What will be some of the unique features of life at Camphill Ghent?
An important feature of the Camphill Ghent Community will be the co-location of Independent Living townhouses and apartments, a licensed Adult Home, and a traditional Camphill Community household for individuals with developmental disabilities. This diversity is intended to provide a rich and ongoing source of potential relationships for all community members. These relationships may result in friendships, practical mutual support, and shared participation in the cultural and social activities of the community.

The day-to-day life at Camphill Ghent will provide a variety of opportunities for social interaction and engagement. An important aspect of Camphill's ethos is that the opportunity to contribute to the lives of others provides a source of dignity and enthusiasm for most people. As such, staff will welcome voluntary resident participation in many facets of community life. We believe that we all have gifts that come alive when we are able to share them with others.

All residents of Camphill Ghent will be welcome to share in the family-style dining experience that will be provided in the community dining space located in the Adult Home. Meals will be a time for sharing and conversation – a coming together of a community that will include independent living residents, assisted living residents, and live-in co-workers and their children.

Residents of Camphill Ghent will also be invited to participate in regular community gatherings that will take place on a weekly basis. In addition, residents will be able to participate in or attend community-based choir practices or performances, seasonal festivals, plays, concerts, lectures, and other community activities and workshops in the many rooms available to community residents.
